The Zoo!

Don took Monday off to hang out with Connor and I. Since he was in Germany the previous week, it was a real treat to spend the day with him. We decided to chance the clouds and head to the zoo. Although it was a bit chilly, the zoo was a perfect choice. There were not many people there, and most of the animals were out to play - except the bears....AGAIN (they were not out last time either). I guess I am going to have to go to Alaska if I want to see any bears. Anyways, one the coolest things were the cougars! They were on the prowl in their exhibit. However, they were upstaged by Sam, the new baby elephant. He was soooo dang cute! Oh, to watch him with his momma was the sweetest thing! It was really precious. Connor had a great time. Although he was clearly frustrated at Dad for not giving him a bit of his elephant ear! Connor, you will have plenty of time for elephant ears when you are older!

A Day on the Bluff

Connor and I headed out to the University of Portland, my alma mater, to have lunch with my little brother Thomas. It was a beautiful fall day on campus. Tom, Connor and I walked from his office over to the cove where we got cove sandwiches and then took them back to Tom's office to eat! Connor did not partake in the cove sandwiches, but did have some yummy pear, apple and plum puree. Tom had a meeting at 1:30 so Connor and I scooted out of the office and took a walk on campus! I just love walking on the campus in fall. Not only did I have a wonderful 4 years there as a student, but Don and I were married there as well. I took Connor out on the bluff to change his diaper. It was kind of funny - Connor was in the buff on the bluff! I had to take some pictures!

Feeding Ducks

Today Connor and I met up with my friend Kim from work and her adorable kiddos Isabella and Jack! We feed the ducks bread at the Tualatin Commons, well at least Isabella did! Jack ate the bread and Connor just took it all in. It was a little on the chilly side, but that didn't stop Jack and Isabella from running through the fountain! Ahh, to be that young and carefree again!

Connor Misses Daddy

Connor and I have been without our dear husband and daddy all week, and Connor is very aware that he has not been around. He says "Dee dee Dadda, Dadda!" all the time, especially when I am changing his diaper. I think he misses Don the most during diaper change because Don makes the whole procedure quite interactive and hilarious to the point that Connor has his rare belly laugh going on! Don has called a few times and we will put the phone on speaker so Connor can hear his voice. It is very cute to watch Connor stare into the phone with a very serious look on his face. Don't worry Connor, daddy will be home soon! Mommy misses him very much too.

Connor, you are too cute! Your daddy and I can't get enough of you! As I type you are sitting in your high chair eating a cookie and making noises so that I will stop typing and look at you! Since I can't resist, I will end this post and play with you!

A Day at the Beach!

Sunday we took Connor to the beach for the first time. It was a beautiful day. We got an early start to our day thanks to Connor who woke us up at 0545. We were on the road by 0850 and after a stop at Starbucks, we were well on our way to Cannon. We took the scenic route through Forest Grove and it was fabulous. Connor slept for about 45 minutes of the 2 hour drive, but he enjoyed the scenery as much as we did! The temperature at the beach was 75 degrees. After lathering on the sunscreen we headed towards the ocean. Much to Connor's dismay, we dipped his little baby toes in the grand Pacific! After a few photos we laid our blanket in the sand to play. Connor was absolutely fascinated by the sand. It was hilarious. He loved to pick up a handful of sand and let the wind blow it out. He would try and dig his little feet into the sand! At one point when we were trying to get a photo, he face planted in the sand. By the time we picked him up he was literally covered in sand and pissed off! So we took our cue and left! But not without stopping for salt water taffy and ice cream cones of course. (For Don and I, Connor was treated to a bottle). On the way home we stopped by one of Don's favorite wineries - Penner Ash. The views were breathtaking, and not that far from our wee town of Sherwood!

Splish Splash!

Connor's favorite time is bath time!!! He is an amazing splasher. The minute his feet hit the water he doesn't stop splashing until we take him out! Don and I need to start wearing waterproof aprons when we bath him as we always end up soaked! We still think he will be our future Michael Phelps!
